Cultural Leaders to be Mentored by Digital Experts

NDF and ACMI, Australia’s national museum of screen culture, are proud to announce the launch of the Executive Digital Mentoring Program in New Zealand, starting this winter 2023 and running through to July 2024.

This program will be an integral part of NDF's Digital Capability Program, an ambitious initiative aimed at transforming the New Zealand cultural sector through the development of digital skills and long-term improvement in organisations' overall digital capability.

ACMI developed their CEO Digital Mentoring Program in 2021 in partnership with the Australia Council and with support from the Ian Potter Foundation. The program has been highly successful in Australia, and NDF is excited to bring this opportunity to New Zealand.

The renamed Executive Digital Mentoring Program is designed to provide tailored strategic technology and digital mentoring to cultural organisation leaders in New Zealand. This program will help leaders make better investments in long-term technology and digital skills, and understand the risks and opportunities in a rapidly changing digital environment.

ACMI and NDF recognise that cultural sector leaders require support to undergo digital transformation, and partnering them with sector-recognised experts in digital strategy and technology-informed innovation will provide this support. The Executive Digital Mentoring Program is a unique opportunity for cultural sector leaders to enhance their digital skills and build a more sustainable future for their organisations.

"After two successful Australian editions transforming leadership on this side of the Tasman, I am excited that ACMI can partner with the National Digital Forum to bring our CEO Digital Mentoring Program to cultural leaders in Aotearoa. Developed with the support of the Australia Council for the Arts and the Ian Potter Foundation, ACMI's program pairs seasoned arts technologists with arts and cultural sector CEOs for a mentoring program that opens wide scale strategic thinking about future directions in cultural institutions. As we have learned during the COVID-19 pandemic, our digital activities are no longer optional but are essential ways in which our arts and cultural institutions perform their functions, reach communities, and enable new forms of creative practice. We can't wait to see how this is taken up by institutions in Aotearoa.”

Seb Chan, Director & CEO of ACMI.

“The Executive Digital Mentoring Program represents a significant step forward for the cultural sector in New Zealand. It provides leaders with the support they need to navigate the digital landscape and build a more sustainable future for their organisations. At NDF, we're proud to be at the forefront of the Aotearoa New Zealand rollout of this important initiative and look forward to working with the cultural sector to drive digital transformation.”

Teina Herzer, Executive Director, NDF.
